Meet the doctor

Dr. Laurentis Barnett

Dr. Barnett, originally from Florence, Alabama, is a graduate of the University of North Alabama and Meharry Medical College. He further enriched his education by earning a Master of Divinity from Ambridge University, accumulating numerous accolades throughout his academic and professional journey.

Dr. Barnett had always envisioned a practice that emphasized high-quality care and continuous education. To bring this vision to life, he moved to Madison, AL, where he transformed Horizons Dental Concepts into Divine Expressions Family Dentistry. He collaborates with leading dental organizations to raise practice standards, ensuring his patients receive the best possible treatment.

Beyond his passion for dentistry, Dr. Barnett is committed to service. He makes annual humanitarian trips to Haiti, where he provides essential dental care and supports a school feeding program that educates hundreds of children. His involvement in the community extends to leadership roles, including serving as a Senior Pastor and holding key positions in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Outside of work and philanthropy, Dr. Barnett enjoys football, traveling, and spending quality time with his loved ones.

What are dental implants and how do they work?

Permanent, secure solution for missing teeth

Unlike dentures, which can slip or cause discomfort, implants are securely anchored in the jaw bone, providing a natural feel and long-lasting solution. With proper care, implants can last for decades.

Preserve your jaw bone

Dental implants do more than just replace teeth. They stimulate your jaw bone, just like a natural tooth root would. This keeps bone density alive and prevents the sunken look that can happen with missing teeth.

Help you enjoy life again

With implants, you can get back to smiling, laughing, and eating all your favorite food again. Implants are designed to look, feel, and function just like the rest of your natural smile.

Your Journey to a New Smile Starts Here

01

Consultation and Planning

We'll assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and use advanced 3D imaging to create your custom implant roadmap.

You'll leave with a clear understanding of your options, timeline, and costs.

02

Implant Placement

When you lose a tooth, you also lose the roots that keep it in place. Your doctor will add a small, screw-like post made of titanium into your jaw bone.

This acts like the root of your missing tooth.

03

Take Time to Heal

Over the course of several months, your jaw bone will grow around the titanium post, holding it firmly in place.

This will keep your jaw strong and prevent it from deteriorating over time.

04

Add the Crown

After your jaw heals, your doctor will attach a new, custom-made tooth to the post — this is called a crown.

The crown will be shaped and colored to perfectly match your other teeth.

If you wait, treatment may not be possible...

Jaw bone begins to weaken

Without a tooth root's stimulation, your jaw bone begins to shrink immediately after tooth loss. This can make future implant placement difficult or even impossible.

Teeth shift out of place

The gap left by your missing tooth allows surrounding teeth to move. This shift can complicate future implant placement and cause severe bit issues.

face will start looking older

Jaw bone loss can lead to a sunken facial appearance, making you look older than you are. Getting implants can help you maintain your youthful features for years to come.

"When a good review is deserved, I am honored to give it. Dr. Barnett exceeded my expectations when I had work done on my mouth. The staff consistently made sure that I had everything I needed and even some of what I wanted. When Dr. Barnett was working on me he constantly asked me if I was ok and in any pain, especially when I was being a little jumpy and difficult, but also even when I was fine he asked just to check in. I highly recomend this practice to give you honesty and the care you need. Excellent place!"

"Absolutely love Dr. Bennet! He answers all of my questions thoroughly and always asks me questions about myself unrelated to the visit. It makes me think he cares about me as a person and not just a patient. Jasmine, the dental assistant, is a joy! Don’t think you can go around her in a bad mood because she will make you smile instantly. This woman covers all of her bases and then some! I definitely recommend Divine Expressions for all of your dental needs!"

"I like the fact everything explained clearly about the issues that take place if my teeth were not properly treated. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. Love the service provided. Excellent service. Thank you!"

"Had a nasty chip in my tooth and called to see if they could squeeze me in, they saw me almost immediately and got my scheduled for a root canal and a crown within a day, the procedure was quick and painless, Dr. Barnett did a great job, I can't speak highly enough about my experience!"

"This was my very FIRST time visiting Divine Expressions and I must say I won't be going anywhere else. Everyone went above and beyond to make my experience great. I would definitely recommend this dentistry to anyone!"

"Three of my four kids have had their first visit with Divine Expressions. Each one so far were hyped and excited about their visit. The fourth one (who was sick on her appointment date) is anxiously awaiting for her turn. These kids have always cried when they had to be seen by a dentist or doctor. The only thing I can say is that your name (DIVINE) does you justice! I want to express a special thank-you to Cari who took extra care of Kash (my most timid of the triplets). He does not cling to people fast and they hit it off as if they were long time buddies."
